More Printing News

Dear friends and family,

Greetings again, and welcome to another brief update from Chad, Africa!

About a week after installing our new generator, we received the digital files for Sabbath School lessons and started printing. In just under three weeks later, two quarters (3900 lessons) are packed into 27 boxes and loaded into the Land Cruiser, ready to ship tomorrow morning! We give glory to God for allowing us to accomplish this international shipment so rapidly. For many people, this will be the only books they buy this year. We are so grateful for our new generator, as it gave us clean and reliable power with plenty to spare. The good news is that the diesel consumption for our new 20KVa generator is about the same as our old 5KVa! I'm not sure how that calculates, but I'm not complaining! We've been working 12+ hour days for the last three weeks, so we are looking forward to scaling back the hours as we continue the work of binding 1500 lessons for Chad.

Many of you were praying for our color printer. Thank you, and we thank the Lord for answering prayer! It has been broken down for a number of months. We replaced many parts and I dismantled it and inspected and cleaned other parts. Nothing seemed to work. We prayed and my parents activated their prayer chains in America. I still do not know what was the exact solution, but all of a sudden it started working again. I know what I touched last, but I believe it was God's finger that healed our broken printer. It has successfully printed about 5400 covers since it was broken down!

I was getting pretty frustrated with our binding machine. It is the single most-expensive piece of equipment we have, yet the binding quality was not good. We were considering researching another machine, but I decided to communicate with the engineers from the company. They told me several tips. As we studied the problem here, we discovered three weaknesses in our binding procedure. And, God has blessed us with two nomads-turned-professonel-book-binders who are doing excellent work.

Before we leave on furlough, we plan to stock up a bunch of literature for distribution while we are gone. Please continue praying for our machines and workers!

In His service,
Jonathan, Melody, Gideon and Liliana Dietrich
