Update on Layman Training Center

2013 June 12

Dear friends and family,

We would like to give you a little update on the work in Chad. After Melody and I had to suddenly leave, my brother Joshua pitched in and helped with the things I had been doing. Nadege (from Congo Frontline Missions) had multiple problems with obtaining a visa for Chad, but eventually was able to arrive and finish the school for us. We are very grateful to them and to Gary for doing well in handling a challenging situation.

Twenty-one students graduated from this first two-month course and have now returned to their homes. (See the attached picture showing the students on graduation day.) The pastor who was helping us has assigned each student who attended from his district a village to work. Please pray earnestly for the work of these students and that the Holy Spirit will not only bless them but will go ahead of them and prepare the way for them.

Some of you have been emailing or wondering about how Melody is doing. Melody is doing much better now. It seems that being out of a stressful environment and eating highly nutritious food has been helpful. Of course, God has heard our prayers and your prayers. If baby comes according to schedule, we have about three weeks to go!

We are accepting speaking appointments now and have already done several. If you would like us to speak at your church or group, please send us an email and we'll see what we can do.

Thank you again for your prayers. Please continue praying for us as we further organize and prepare for returning to Chad.

In His service,
Jonathan and Melody Dietrich
